Presidential Election Candidate, Heather Humphreys visited Meath this week (yesterday and today) as part of her Presidential election campaign.
Heather began her visit in Slane yesterday (Wednesday) with a trip to Slane Men’s Shed.
She said: “Slane Men’s Shed is a fantastic organisation. They offer a huge variety of groups, which are at the heart of our communities. As Minister I always supported the Men’s Sheds and if elected President, I will highlight them and celebrate the unsung heroes like them in communities all across Ireland.
Heather visited Trim today (Thursday), calling to The Swift Cultural Centre, which she opened as Minister for Rural and Community Development in 2023.
She said: “The Swift Cultural Centre is a beautiful arts centre and performance space attached to the wonderful library.
“It’s so important that we as a country invest in our arts which is intrinsic to our culture. I know from my time representing Ireland abroad as a Minister that our culture and heritage really is our calling card overseas. It was great to see the wonderful refurbishment of the historic Methodist Chapel and to hear about the plans for the new cinema.”
Heather also visited Trim Credit Union and met with people around the town discussing her campaign themes of community, unity and opportunity, to round off her day in Trim. She finished her Meath visit meeting shoppers in Summerhill.
