Presidential Election Candidate, Heather Humphreys today (Thursday) visited Limerick as part of her Presidential election campaign.
Heather began her visit canvassing voters in the Crescent Shopping Centre with former Minister Michael Noonan.
Heather said, “I am delighted to be in Limerick today, meeting people across the city and county, and I am very heartened by the support I have received.”
Michael Noonan said: “I’ve known Heather Humphreys for many years. She was an excellent Minister at the Cabinet table where I served with her for many years. She served her country diligently and admirably.
“She is not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what she believes in. Last month, I was delighted to hear that she wanted to return to public service and contest the Presidential election.
“I think she would make an excellent President.
“Heather embodies the qualities of a what we need our President to be – she is forthright, a person of great conviction, is compassionate, warm and has the ability to get on well with everybody and will always do what is right for this country.
“These qualities will make her an excellent President.”
Minister Kieran O’Donnell also canvasses the shopping centre with Heather.
Heather then travelled to Adare to continue the canvass and meet with representatives of the Ryder Cup to discuss the opportunities for Limerick and the wider region from this significant event.
“The Ryder Cup will be a fantastic boost for this area bringing many visitors to Limerick and surrounding counties,” said Heather.
“As President I want to seek out new opportunities for tourism growth, as well as open doors for Irish businesses abroad as I did in my role as Minister for Business.”
In the evening, Heather attended a campaign rally in Patrickswell Community Centre which she had officially opened as Minister for Rural and Community Development.
Speakers at the rally included Minister Patrick O’Donovan and Limerick senior football manager Jimmy Lee.
